Planning is underway for our 50th anniversary celebration. A tentative schedule of events has been developed while other additions to the schedule are being discussed. We need lots of help in pulling this together especially chair persons for each event. Inserted in today’s bulletin is what the committee has recommended to date, subject to the availability of bishops, priests and venues. But we wanted to give you an idea of what we are planning. The celebration year will begin January 2013 through December 2013.
We also would like to create a prayer garden as a memory of our jubilee celebration. We are looking for landscape designers who are members of our parish who can help with this project. So if you think you might be interested in chairing one of these events or can help with the prayer garden, please give Kathy Morris a call at the rectory.
This is a very exciting time for our parish and we hope you will participate in the planning and coordinating of our celebration. Our next planning meeting will be Monday, Sept 10th at 7PM in the rectory. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Today we had a wonderful liturgy and celebration for our patron saint. Thanks to everyone who joined us for the 9am mass. Here’s the petitions from today’s mass. They reflect the life and beliefs of Saint Alphonsus. Reflect on them sometime.
St. Alphonsus, you struggled to reconcile love of family with the call of the gospel. Bless all families and may their love flow beyond the home to touch the stranger and the alien, we pray…
St. Alphonsus, you were a lawyer and struggled to make ideals of justice real in the world. Bless all lawyers and all who work to make the world a place of liberty and justice for all, we pray…
It is with great sadness that we must tell you of the death of our young parishioner, Peter Teleha. Thank you for all your prayers. Peter is now at peace and with our loving God.
The funeral arrangements have been finalized. The funeral will be on Tuesday, July 31. There will be a viewing from 11am to 1pm in the narthex followed by a prayer service. Our thoughts and prayers to go to the Teleha family and friends during this very difficult time.
