Prayer Garden

We’re breaking ground on a new prayer garden near the Blessed Mother Statue just in time for the 50th Anniversary. After the 10:15 mass on Sunday, May 26th, Monsignor Owens read prayers and blessed the ground on which the prayer garden will be installed. As part of the ceremony, Tom Sweeney crowned the Blessed Mother Statue with a wreath of flowers. Monsignor will discuss more details about the garden at our mass with Archbishop Chaput on June 1st.

“There is no greater love than this, that a man should lay down his life for a friend.” — John 15:13

We held our annual Memorial Day Mass at 9:00 AM on Monday, May 27th. The mass began with a flag ceremony conducted by Boy Scouts Sam Hotchkiss and Donald Scott, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and our national anthem. During the intentions of the mass, Dave White and Fred Plefka read a list of about 60 parish family and friends who made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as the date and location of their passing. We would like to thank Dave White for his efforts in organizing the mass, Monsignor Thomas Owens for leading the mass, Fred Plefka for serving as lector, and our two Boy Scouts for carrying flags. Lastly, we remember Tom Murphy, who lectored at this mass for many years before passing away last December.

Fortnight for Freedom

Please join us in celebrating the second Fortnight for Freedom from June 21st to July 4th.

The Fortnight is an initiative by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops which promotes “prayer, action, and study for religious freedom in the United States and abroad.” The USCCB suggests several ways to participate in this initiative  including special petitions, special prayers, and daily praying of the Rosary after Mass.
