St. Alphonsus Bereavement Ministry

Mission   

The mission of St. Alphonsus ministry to the bereaved is to be a source of love, care, and support to those who grieve the loss of a loved one. We work to reach out to our parishioners or members of their families who have experienced loss, so they will know the healing comfort of God through our faith community.

Short-term Objectives

 

¨      Pray for the deceased and the family of the deceased.

¨      Bring a cake to the family’s home before the funeral.

¨      Send a prayer card to the next of kin.

¨      Follow up call or visit after one month.

¨      Have resources available for grief counseling and maintain an on-going list of locations on our website of support groups in our area.

 

Long-term Objectives

 

¨      Be responsible for the All Souls Liturgy remembering those who died during the previous year.

 

¨      Help plan the Funeral Liturgy.

 

¨      Offer a support ministry here at the Parish.
